THE PATHWAY TO THE FIRST TEAM: Riley Cooper’s Success Story
At Bridlington Town AFC, we don’t just develop students; we develop players for the First Team. Today, we are highlighting the incredible rise of Riley Cooper—a testament to the success of our academy .
The Bridlington Town AFC Academy is designed to provide young
athletes with a professional environment where footballing excellence and academic achievement go hand-in-hand. By wearing the Seasiders’ badge every day, our scholars are part of the club’s DNA from day one.
From the Academy to the First Team
Riley Cooper’s journey over the past year is the perfect blueprint for what we aim to achieve. His talent and dedication did not go unnoticed by First Team Manager Scott Kerr.
Riley’s progression has been rapid and deserved. After breaking into the senior squad, he became a integral part of the First Team setup, signing an official contract with the club and being awarded Player of the Month at the start of the year.
In His Own Words: The Scholar Experience
Riley reflects on his first year within the Bridlington Town Academy:
“I’ve really enjoyed my first year as a scholar with Bridlington Town. It’s been a great chance for me to develop both on and off the pitch, and I feel like I’ve grown a lot in confidence, discipline, and my understanding of the game.
One of the best moments for me has been getting the opportunity to step up and play for the first team. It’s been a great experience to test myself at a higher level and learn from the senior players around me. I’m also really proud to have signed a contract with the club, which is a big step in my journey so far. I’m thankful for all the support and opportunities from my tutor and coach, and I’m looking forward to continuing to improve and push myself even more in the next few years.”
